First accident on expressway | Breaking News

An accident occurred on the Southern Expressway at 7.10 this morning, (28/11/2011) at the 8th mile post in Kahatuduwa. The two individuals who were injured were travelling to Colombo. They were admitted to the Horana Hospital and have now been discharged.

The police said that the individuals were identified as a foreigner and a local driver and they had been travelling over the speed limit of 100kmph.

The expressway was declared open last morning, in a ceremony by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
